When the gutter is packed, the water doesn’t stop — it goes over the edge and behind the fascia. That’s where rot starts, and rot is a carpenter, not a cleaner.
The cheapest thing you can do for your house
A gutter has one job: catch what comes off the roof and move it away from the foundation. Fill it with shingle grit, oak leaves and pine needles and it stops being a channel — it becomes a planter box bolted to your roofline.
Here’s the sequence, and it’s the same on every house it happens to:
- Debris packs in and the water can’t reach the downspout.
- It backs up and spills over the back edge — between the gutter and the fascia board.
- That water runs down the fascia and into the soffit instead of away from the house.
- Wet wood swells, paint lifts, and the fascia softens. Now insects are interested.
- Meanwhile the overflow hits the ground at the foundation, eroding the bed and washing out the grade you paid for.
Nobody ever calls about their gutters. They call about the ceiling stain the gutters caused.
What we actually do
Hand-clear the full run
Debris comes out by hand and goes in a bucket — not blown onto your roof, your beds, or your pool cage.
Flush every downspout
Water down each one until it runs clean and free at the bottom. If one is blocked, we clear it rather than reporting it back to you.
Check the hardware
Loose hangers, separated seams, pitch running the wrong way — you get told what we found, with a photo, whether or not it’s something we do.
Brighten the outside faces
Those black vertical tiger stripes on white gutters aren’t dirt — they’re oxidation streaks that need to be treated, not rinsed.
Haul it away
The debris leaves with us. Your yard looks like we were never there.
Questions we get asked
How often do gutters need cleaning in Florida?
Twice a year is the safe answer for most homes. Under heavy oak or pine, expect more — those trees drop year-round here.
I have gutter guards. Do I still need this?
Usually yes. Guards keep the big leaves out; fine grit, pine needles and shingle granules still get through and pack down underneath.
Can you clean the gutters while you wash the roof?
Yes, and that’s the right order — roof first, gutters after, so the debris we knock loose comes out too. Bundled, it costs you less than booking them separately.
